Ai0ia is a clone of the Eliza program. Eliza
is not a real doctor, she just plays one on
the internet. Eliza is the original Rogerian
psychotherapist chatbot. The Eliza program was
created by computer scientist Dr. Joseph Weizenbaum
between 1964 and 1966. It primarily functions by
repeating input in the form of a question. It's a
simple but clever paradigm. This unique version of
Eliza is written in AIML, the chatbot language created
By Dr. Richard Wallace, and her basic conversational
Are augmented by material from his ALICE.aiml. However,
you shouldn't expect Ai0iA to display the same degree
of sophistication as chatbots created decades later. She
does, however, provide a glimpse at the workings of Eliza,
which was widely considered to be the first chatbot.
